Belle Vue 9th April

Well we competed at our second meeting of the year and although we had done a lot of work on the car we soon discovered in heat 1 that things were still not right. As the evening went on the car got better and by the Grand National we were quite pleased with our pace. Some front suspension set up and steering box adjustments should see us being more competative at the next meeting which is on the 29th April at Belle Vue again.. hope to see a few of you there.

Startrax Press Release

WELCOME CAPTAIN CHAOS & BARMY ARMY - 2012 Style!

Entrepreneur, former BSCDA Chairman, ex dabbling promoter and Stoxkarts proprietor Ian Higgins is clearly going through a mid life crisis and positively male menopausal!
York based Ian was one of the sports top stars in the early nineties and his reputation in BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Car Racing became a legend. It inspired the `Barmy Army' group of fun seeking followers. On a more serious note Ian's career and reputation propelled him to lead the respected British Stock Car Drivers Association as Chairman and mid nineties along with father Dennis, promoted Stoke `their way' for one season before deciding `promoting was for others!'
The Higgins family have been omni present in the sport and retain their F1 roots. It came as a surprise a couple of years ago when the family as a business venture took over the fledgling StoxKart operation which under their leadership has become a major `fun formula' providing fun Hire driver for dozens of wannabee drivers each season.
Approaching the `Autumn' of his life where common sense bites the dust! Last of the Summer wine racing F1 style has been reborn!
Ian has hankered for a final challenge in BriSCA F1 before age catches up and made a succesful and entertaining debut at Coventry Stadium at Christmas.
This further fuelled the adrnealine rush and within weeks a car was sought and as the pictures show, put together `on a budget' in the usual immaculate Higgins livery!
Ian has committed to Startrax events in 2012 and share the same ideals that the sport should be `fun' and `proper stock car racing' and the Barmy Army has been reborn and is gathering amazing momentum.
Ian will add that edge to the 2012 campaign and his `blogs' give an insight into the prearation of a Brisca F1 Stock Car.
His debut will be the Big BriSCA Season opener at Manchesters' premier BELLE VUE GREYHOUND STADIUM on Sunday 25th March at 1.pm

Stickers...

Nearly done, decided to keep it simple. Just the wing to do now!

Time for Stickers

The car is going to be sign written this week and there is space for additional sponsors, we seriously need your help to get the car on track.  Please take a look at the sponsors page to find out details and costs, it's not as expensive as you may think.

Hope you can help.

Work in Progress

We collected the chassis from FWJ's workshop on Thursday evening.  Sent it for shot blasting Friday and have had a very busy weekend in the garage getting it painted.

A big thank you to Billy, Joe, AJ, Christina and Ash for all their help getting the car ready to paint and for spending all weekend in the garage.

Paint Arrived

We have had a bit of a job finding old style Coach Paint. Found a company in Manchester who have supplied me British Leyland Pagent Blue.. Looks stunning.

Chassis Update

The Chassis has gone away to Storplan Racking for Shot blasting. Hopefully start painting it this weekend. Pictures will be coming soon.

Workshop Update

The car has had new bumpers, Nerfs, Panhard Rod Brackets, and trademark side scallops fitted. We are now about ready to paint etc and we are looking for someone who either has a contact in the paint industry or the facilities/ ability to be able to paint it for us.. please feel free to contact us.

Anyone got a contact for Paint?? I need 5 litres of Enamal coach paint, British Leyland Pagent Blue and 1 litre of Post office red.

Heat 1.. a couple of issues in the first race, too much right foot on the exit of turn 4 saw the superstars past, unfortunatly the steering kept sticking and I could not get it off lock and to top that off we lost the brakes on about lap 5. Back in the pits we saw the UJ on the steering was catching the rocker cover so Paul and AJ got it sorted. Frankie said we needed a longer rod on the brake cylinder to try and get a better pedel, got it all done ready for heat 2.

Heat 2. Brake pedel felt great, on lap 1 saw a car half spun in turn 1 backed off early hit the brakes but the car slid sideways into the parked car. The car would not start and we took a couple of knocks then she fired up just as the yellows came out, joined the back of the grid but get told I was the reason there was a stoppage so not allowed to re join!! Crazy if you ask me!

Feature..
drew pole Red for the feature, took a hit on turn 3 but the car felt good for a couple of laps but then the brakes packed in again, I had to back off early and double pump each time, struggled through the race but well off the pace! Back in the pits we check the rear hubs and a disc is comming loose so we sort that and straighten a rear caliper bracket..

Grand National..

Car felt good but just a couple of laps in the brakes went again!! goggles also clogged up and we took a few hits , rubbed the wires a couple of times and drove straight into the back of Dan Johnson who was parked in the fence!! Mind you got a 9 out of 10 for my 360 spin on turn 2!!! A few jobs to sort before the next meeting, new earth lead on the battery, new brake master cylinder, cut the left foot brake off and extend the clutch pedel and straighten the well bent front bumper!! Had plenty of fun though and lots of support so thank you all guys!!
